In the 50-plus years since our Zinfandel vines were planted, many of their dry-farmed root systems have inched their way nearly 30 feet below the surface of Moon Mountain Vineyard searching for water and nutrients. Here and there, these intricate structures visibly protrude from the rocky hillsides, offering a literal glimpse into Sonoma’s winemaking history. Having survived devastating fires in 1996 and 2017 and multiple serious droughts, these plantings have endured. Though Zinfandel is known for its natural vibrancy, ours is defined by the graceful nuance and structure of mountain viticulture.
