Malbec’s fickle temperament severely limits its cultivation in most of California, but in the ancient rocky soils above Sonoma, Malbec is transformed into something compelling and powerful. Near our mountain summit the fruit basks in warm summer heat, then is cooled overnight by light winds funneled from the Pacific through the Petaluma Gap. The result celebrates Malbec’s dominant profile, with balance, elegance and firm acidity holding its decadent flavors in check.
